Aa is for Andre Agassi

What can I say about one of the greatest sportsman ever finally bringing an end to one of the best sporting careers ever?
If you don't know Andre Agassi's 20-year career ended in a 5-7 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 5-7 defeat to German qualifier Benjamin Becker at the US Open today, about an hour ago in fact.
In his defeat he bowed to all four sides of the court for the last time and was VERY emotional.
I have to admit, rather sheepishly, I was struggling to keep dry eyes and was unable to change channel as I got caught up in the moment.
60 ATP titles and eight Grand Slams= What a record. And for a certain Pete Sampras it could have been so much better, what a fight both men had over the years.
It was not his best match by a long long way, but a battling performance from a 36-year old who prior to the game had been given a cortazone injection was a fitting tribute.
A sad end to his illustrious career. A true sports great and the ovation he got was thoroughly deserved. It will be a massive shame if he doesn't play in any senior events...but I am sure he will.
