News-monkey

This blog of my journalism (and other) experiences was created so that I could look back in a few months/years and acknowledge the serious posts I have made on here and laugh at the posts that basically me talking shit.

I have become much more aware of the UK media surrondings and journalism as a commodity since I went to University and starting studying journalism. The course is great and so is the resources UCLan provide and direct me towards. But there is one particular site that has stood out for me. There all a load of journalism sites on the web and most are educational, informative and great resource tools.

However, one which I was pointed towards while doing my course is www.news-monkey.com = this is a site which is soon to be taken of the internet as it has not taken off in a year despite having 246 members. The problem is most members do not post so the "editor" has said that he is not paying to have the site on the net for only a few people. Personally, I have enjoyed posting on that site...I am a member of other journalism sites like journobiz and mediaUK but, while them sites are also great, the place to go if you want a bit of a laugh about journalism is news-monkey. They have given me a lot of help regarding my local newspaper placement (which starts tomorrow) and I believe the regular posters played a massive role in helping me achieve the placement as they guided me from not knowing what to do, to producing a letter with everything on it that would get me the placement.

There are always the memories though and I will remember them, the posters on there are a good bunch, when serious or laughable if this site reflects what I will be like when (if? hopefully..) I become a fully fledged journo then I will be a very happy man indeed.
